Fun Facts About The Elder Scrolls


The Elder Scrolls I: Arena

  • Special artifact quests could only be enabled by editing a file and enabling them through the command console.
  • Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Skryim are all provinces on the main continent Tamriel established in Arena.  Oblivion was set in the central province of Cyrodiil.  Which means at some point we will get a game set in the Khajiit province of Elsweyr.  You know, the cat people.   Rawr.
  • Passwall was a spell that could be cast or enchanted to items.  Passwall literally eliminates an entire section of wall.  Any entire section of wall.  I miss this spell.

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Daggerfall is the largest Elder Scrolls game ever made and had randomly generated dungeons and towns.  This also caused the following fun glitches:

  • To continue the critical path, certain letters have to be received.  These letters sometimes never come.
  • Sometimes dungeon’s would have no possible route to their treasure or next level.
Daggerfall was also the first Elder Scrolls game to allow the player to become a vampire (clans and all), werewolf, or member of the Dark Brotherhood.  Daggerfall also featured a metric TON of factions including at least a dozen religions.
And you could buy a boat.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Like Skyrim, Morrowind places the character in the shoes of a messiah called the Nerevarine.  While you don’t save the world from dragons, you do undergo the religious trails of the Dark Elves to prove yourself.  Oh and you get messiah powers.

Morrowind also featured a different Assassin’s style guild instead of the Dark Brotherhood called the Morag Tong.  The Dark Brotherhood are present in the game but not an open faction.

Several gods are also present in Morrowind that the player can kill.

In addition to guilds and religious sects, there are multiple Houses that could be joined.  Each house favored either Mages, Thieves, or Fighters and held great political sway.  House Telvanni for instance was comprised of mages who all owned stairless towers that they lived in.  See mages can fly.  And Mages are crazy in Morrowind.
