There are two primary schools of thought used when determining a letter grade, number, or amount of stars to assign a game. One way is to determine the score based on whether the audience will enjoy the game or not. And the other way is to score it based mostly on personal taste and experience (ie how good are the graphics, the writing, etc or an average of). Catherine is an exemplary example of why scoring systems are not always the best way to communicate information and opinion. See Catherine is an extremely good, well written, and highly polished game that I imagine the vast majority of the populace will either dislike or outright hate. Catherine redefines the term “niche”. We begin with film this turn discussing Cowboys and Aliens, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Battleship.
Continuing on with videogames we hit on Persona 3 PSP, Catherine, and Bastion.
And finally we end with literature and discuss Dresden and also answer a listener email!
UPDATE:
Currently the last 15 minutes of the turn got cut off due to a software glitch with our FTP client. The problem will be fixed in approximately 9 hours (ie when MusiM gets home from work to upload the file again). Until then there are a lot of other turns to check out. Maybe some horror, spoilercasts, or rpg casts.
Developed and published by Atlus. This very strange game centering around choosing between infidelity and commitment combined with a horror-esque puzzle platformer is actually developed by the same team that worked on Persona 3 and Persona 4. Matter of fact the main character Vincent even appears in Persona 3 PSP. If you aren’t familiar with the Persona series, you should check out our RPG series.
The animated scenes in the game are done by Studio 4°C. Other things Studio 4°C has done include 2 of the Batman Gotham Knights animated shorts, Tekkon Kinkreet, and the upcoming Berserk movie series among many others.
If you’ve missed the plethora of trailers we’ve posted that Atlus has sent us, here’s another one.

Atlus published an entertaining but noisy interview with some of the primary voice actors from Catherine. No real information in this one, just some voice actors having fun. See the video below and past the break you can see the graphic Atlus emailed me. I probably should sign up for some other mailing lists so I can post something, ya know, not Catherine news related.
