Seventeen-year-old Rosie loses her mother, Trudie, to Huntington’s Disease.  Knowing that she has a fifty-per-cent chance of inheriting the crippling disease herself,  Rosie makes the decision to get tested for it.  Upon telling her mum’s best friend, ‘Aunt Sarah’ that she is going to test for the disease Sarah reveals a horrible secret, that Trudie was not Rosie’s biological mother after all.  Rosie is devastated and decides to trace her real mother, hitching along on her ex-boyfriend’s GAP year to follow her to Los Angeles.
