Review: The Awakening of Leeowyn Blake

Title:The Awakening of Leeowyn Blake

Author:Mary Parker

Leeowyn is a normal teenager and has a normal teenage life with normal teenage problems.  She lives with her mom during the summer months in their tiny condo in Jacksonville, Florida.

Her parents split up when she was little. She’s not sure why and whatever it was, it was bad enough to make her Mom pack her up in the middle of the night when she was four years old and run to the condo.

From that time on all she had known her entire life was beach life. Until four years ago. Until her uncle found her and insisted she stay with him.

My Review

From the moment I started reading The Awakening of Leeowyn Blake I had to know why her Uncle visiting would change things, then when the family secret is revealed I had to know what she was going to do about it.  I could not put this book down and when it was over part of me was disappointed and the other part wanted to know what happens next. The Awakening of Leeowyn Blake is the first book by Mary Parker and she does not disappoint.  We are taken on an emotional ride along with Leeowyn as she falls in love, has her heart broken and suffers a great loss.

Through parts of the book I was on the edge of my seat with the tension that is portrayed, cheered when Leeowyn stands up for herself and cried through some sad times.

Leeowyn is portrayed as an average person down to earth person and this makes it easy to believe her thoughts and feelings, and even when she is no longer average you still want to cheer her on with whatever tasks she has to do.  I love the characters that we get to meet, my favourite one being Peach, although Rodrick had me laughing at some of the ways he taught Leeowyn.

Although there is no sign of book 2, title or release date, I am eagerly awaiting its release to find out what happens next.

Mary has taken time out of her busy schedule to take part in an interview with me and has also offered 2 eBooks for giveaway.  To enter follow the link to my giveaway page on my blog and filll in the rafflecopter form.  Carry on reading to find out some facts about Mary Parker.

I get together with my sisters (my brother lives out of state) and friends every couple of weeks and have a “Chopped Dinner,” based after the TV show.

My favorite designer is Vera Wang.

My parents are both professional writers.

When I hiccup I sound like a mouse squeaking, which has earned me the nickname of “Mouse.”

I used to be addicted to online RPG games, which actually helped me develop my storyline for The Awakening of Leeowyn Blake.
